1. Do your research
Research different universities and courses in Australia that align with your academic goals. Consider factors such as location, reputation, course content, tuition fees and available scholarships.
2. Check admission requirements
Review the admission requirements for your chosen university. This might include academic qualifications, English language proficiency or a personal statement.

3. Apply
Prepare all your required documents, including academic transcripts, certificates, Genuine Temporary Entrant (GTE) statement, English language test scores and CV.
Universities in Australia require that you apply directly through their websites. You may wish to get some help from an education agent if you are not sure exactly where to start.
4. Secure funding
Research available scholarships and financial aid options for international students, whether through your university or via the Australian government.
To gain a student visa, you will need to prove you have sufficient funds to support yourself while you are living in Australia. This includes 12 months of course fees and living costs. Course fees will vary based on what you are studying. It is currently required that you bring a minimum of A$21,041 for living costs. You can learn more about the cost of living in Australia here.
To earn some money while you are studying, you might consider getting a part-time job while you are in Australia.
5. Apply for a student visa
Once you receive an offer of admission, begin your application for a Student (subclass 500) visa through the Department of Home Affairs.
You will need to provide documents including your Certificate of Enrolment (CoE), proof of health insurance and finances. You will also need to pay the application fee.
6. Prepare for departure
Your visa has been approved - hooray! Now it’s time to prepare for your educational journey in Australia.
Arrange your travel plans and research the types of accommodation on offer, such as student accommodation, private rentals or homestays. While each type of accommodation has its pros and cons, you’re sure to find one that suits your budget and lifestyle.
Your university may connect you with other international students before you arrive, making your transition smoother.
7. Embrace the experience
Studying in Australia isn’t just an opportunity for academic growth, but also a chance for personal development and cultural exploration. Get involved in the multicultural community, participate in extracurricular activities and make the most of your time in this exciting country!
